Chausson Titanium Line 2027 Motorhome Review

The Chausson Titanium Line 640 is a low-profile motorhome designed around one main idea: giving you as much usable space as possible without moving into a much larger vehicle. Its 6.99m body provides a generous lounge, sizeable kitchen, spacious bathroom, and a garage area, while the electric drop-down bed creates a double bed without permanently using up the living area. With a strong standard equipment list, the 640 has plenty to offer buyers looking for a comfortable touring motorhome.

The 640 has the presence you would expect from a larger low-profile motorhome, with the Titanium Line specification adding white bodywork and grey walls, 16-inch steel wheels with grey trims, a colour-coded front bumper and exterior entrance lighting. The luxury entrance door has a window, while central locking between the cab and habitation area, electric and heated mirrors, automatic headlights, fog lamps and a rear-view camera are also included. A panoramic skylight helps bring more natural light into the habitation area, while the double-locking windows combine blinds and flyscreens.

At 6.99m long and up to 2.35m wide, the 640 is not a compact motorhome, but that extra footprint is put to good use inside. The right-hand service hatch measures 1,145mm by 620mm, while the larger left-hand hatch measures 1,845mm by 605mm, giving you useful access to the exterior storage area for bikes, outdoor furniture and larger touring equipment. The maximum technically permissible laden mass is 3,500kg, so you will need to keep an eye on payload once you have added passengers, luggage, water, gas and any optional equipment.

The interior is where the 640 makes its strongest case. Chausson has created a genuine maxi-lounge at the front, followed by a large kitchen and bathroom area, while the electric drop-down bed sits above the living space when it is not being used. The main bed measures 160cm by 190cm and can accommodate two people, up to a maximum specified load of 250kg. When the bed is raised, the lounge remains available during the day, so you do not have to sacrifice the main seating area for a fixed sleeping arrangement.

The kitchen is also generously proportioned for a low-profile motorhome, with the specification including a 140-litre compressor fridge in the relevant configuration and two cooking burners. The bathroom has plenty of room compared with the washrooms found in more compact motorhomes, while the wardrobe provides additional storage for clothing. A convertible dining area can also provide an extra sleeping space measuring up to 130cm by 195cm, although the 640’s main strength remains its comfortable two-berth layout.

The Titanium Line 640 is available with Ford and Fiat powertrain options, including an eight-speed automatic transmission depending on the chosen engine. The Ford option requires the 165hp engine for the eight-speed automatic gearbox, while a 160hp Fiat option is also available with automatic transmission. Cruise control and a speed limiter come as standard, alongside electric and heated mirrors, automatic headlights and windscreen wipers, and steering wheel controls.

The cab is well equipped for long-distance touring. Automatic cab air conditioning, a multimedia system, DAB radio, USB and USB-C ports and a rear-view camera are all included in the Titanium Line specification; the Ford Drive Pack can add satellite navigation, adaptive cruise control and collision warning. ESP and an electric handbrake are also fitted, giving the 640 a reassuring level of standard driving equipment for a vehicle of this size.

Storage is one of the 640’s strongest points, with a large exterior storage area complemented by the interior wardrobe and substantial living space. The 105-litre freshwater tank and 100-litre wastewater tank give the relevant configuration plenty of capacity for touring away from campsites, while the 70-litre fuel tank is adequate for longer journeys. The heating system uses vehicle fuel while driving, which means you do not have to rely entirely on the habitation gas supply during colder travel days.

The Titanium Line specification also includes a premium mattress for the main berth, a luxury entrance door, an insulated entrance step, damped cupboard hinges, curtains and double-locking windows with integrated blinds and flyscreens. The 640 is also solar-panel ready, making it easier to add additional electrical capacity for off-grid touring. If you will regularly use the motorhome through winter, the optional Arctic Pack is worth considering because it adds an insulated and heated wastewater tank, enhanced heating, thermal external blinds, a heated floor and other cold-weather equipment.

The biggest attraction of the Chausson 640 is its ability to provide a surprisingly open interior within a 6.99m body. The maxi-lounge gives you plenty of seating during the day, while the electric bed can be lowered at night without permanently taking up valuable floor space. That makes the layout particularly appealing to couples who want a spacious motorhome but don’t want to spend their days working around fixed beds.

The equipment level is another strong point. Automatic cab air conditioning, cruise control, a multimedia system, rear-view camera, panoramic skylight, USB and USB-C connections, a premium main mattress and a large fridge are all useful inclusions. There is also a good range of optional packs if you want to add more technology or improve the motorhome’s cold-weather capability. The choice of Ford and Fiat powertrains gives buyers flexibility, too.
