Remembering Roger Crafts: A Life Dedicated to Lowdhams

It is with a heavy heart, I announce the sad passing of Roger Crafts. He died peacefully with his
family at his side after a short but brave battle with cancer.

After taking the business on from a young age due to his father’s health, Roger took Lowdhams
on to new levels. He eventually achieved his vision in 1991 by moving the business out of the
village onto a new purpose-built 26-acre site at Lowdham Road, Gunthorpe. From there the
business grew into one of the best known and most successful dealers in the UK.

At its peak we had three branches and employed over 250 people, something that Roger
was very proud of. He also helped the wider industry by working closely with the NCC
(National Caravan Council) for which he was recently awarded a service to the industry
award for all his dedication.

Roger was a tough taskmaster, if I thought I’d got everything right, he would find the
bit I got wrong. “Retail is detail!”, he would say and I proudly continue to say. Charlie
is currently enjoying the same lessons today.

He will be sadly missed by everyone at Lowdhams and the wider industry.
